At KVH, we recognize that addictions are diseases that have devastating effects on patients, families, and communities. We are ready to help. If you or anyone in your family suffers from a substance use disorder, please allow us to help you with medical care.
Opioid Use Disorder (OUD)
Addiction to opioids (painkillers), both prescription and “street” drugs, is a major health problem in our country. Fortunately, OUD treatment with medication can be very effective. Our team of trained providers can prescribe these medication treatments.
Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD)
Treatment with medication is a valuable component of the treatment for AUD. Your primary care provider may prescribe the medications or may feel it is best for you to be seen by our Addiction Medicine clinic.
Tobacco Use Disorder (TUD)
TUD is responsible for more U.S. deaths than any other addiction. We recognize that it is a very serious disorder, not merely a bad habit. Medication treatments are available. Primary care providers
and our Addiction Medicine clinic can help.
Other Use Disorders
Medications have less of a role in treating Stimulant Use Disorder (cocaine, methamphetamine, and other drugs), Cannabis Use Disorder, and other substance problems. But medical evaluation and treatment of associated disorders, such as mental health conditions, is valuable along with counseling. Medications can also sometimes be used to support counseling. Our providers are here to work with you and your counselor as needed.
