Support groups resume after holiday break

Support groups for cancer survivors and people living with diabetes will resume after a two-month break during the holiday season. These support groups are facilitated by Kittitas Valley Community Hospital and meet monthly.

The cancer survivors' support group meets on the second Monday of the month in the upstairs conference room at KVCH.  Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m., and last an hour and a half.  Meetings usually include a health or wellness presentation that may be of interest to people living with cancer or those whose cancer is in remission.

The February 13 cancer survivors' support group will feature a presentation by Anna Marie Newman on Healing Touch. Anna Marie Newman is a certified Healing Touch practitioner who believes the wholeness of the body, mind, spirit, and emotion can be harmonized for optimal health.

The diabetes education and support group meets on the third Tuesday of the month.  Meetings are typically held in the upstairs conference room at KVCH, but are sometimes held at other locations.  This group has scheduled time for open discussion and allows for individual questions between 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  At 7:00 p.m. a one-hour formal presentation begins.  Presentations are given on topics of interest to those living with diabetes, and speakers usually include a certified diabetes educator.

The February 21 diabetes education and support group will focus on exercise related to diabetes management, featuring a speaker from Kittitas Valley Physical Therapy.
