Kittitas Valley Healthcare has permanently discontinued home respiratory services to patients. Though the decision to end the service was difficult, Kittitas County patients now have a variety of home oxygen providers to choose from. When KVH began the service 20 years ago, it was the only local provider.
About 125 patients are currently being served by KVH Home Respiratory. KVH is working with Howard’s Medical to ensure that these patients have uninterrupted service until September 30, 2015. This allows patients three months to choose a new oxygen provider.
All patients have been notified of the program’s end by mail. Each patient will also receive a follow-up phone call this week to ensure that they have a continuous supply of oxygen as they transition to another oxygen care provider.
Only one employee was affected by the discontinuation of the home respiratory program. That employee has accepted a position in another KVH department.
