Jeanette DeFoe Receives Tom Utley Member Achievement Award

As the number of hospitals and health care systems that use electronic health records continues to grow, the number of staff supporting these systems also continues to grow.  InSight, a membership group for users of McKesson technology products like those used by KVH Hospital, now has over 5,000 members.

Each year, InSight honors one member who has demonstrated outstanding service with the Tom Utley Member Achievement Award.  Jeanette DeFoe of Kittitas Valley Healthcare was recognized with the 2013 Tom Utley award for her contributions towards improving the use of McKesson products and improving communication between McKesson and its users.

Jeanette was recognized and presented with the award prior to the keynote speech at the InSight annual conference in late September.

As the Clinical Informatics Manager for Kittitas Valley Healthcare, Jeanette is responsible for managing the clinical portion of the electronic health record system used at KVH Hospital.  She has worked for KVH since 2001.

“We have always known Jeanette is a leader in her field,” said Jim Roberts, Information Systems Director at KVH.  “I am so pleased she has been nationally recognized for her outstanding work.”

Jeanette currently holds the key position of Education Chair for an InSight special interest group that focuses on how nurses and pharmacists use the electronic health record system.  In 2014, she will end her term as Education Chair and become the Director of Education on the InSight Board of Directors.
