Doctor leaving county medical community

Dr. Robert Johnson, Jr., chief of staff at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital, announced today that he and his family will relocate to South Carolina in August of this year.  Dr. Johnson, who is a physician at Family Health Care of Ellensburg, has been a part of the Kittitas County medical community since 2002.

"We will greatly miss Dr. Johnson in his role as chief of staff at KVCH," said Paul Nurick, KVCH CEO.  "Under his leadership, we have made significant progress on the process of credentialing medical providers to practice medicine at KVCH.  We wish him and his family all the best in the future."

The chief of staff is elected by the body of physicians who provide patient care at KVCH.  He or she is charged with representing the opinions, concerns, and needs of the medical staff to the Board of Commissioners for Kittitas County Public Hospital District No. 1, other officials, and the public.  He or she also serves as chairperson of the Medical Executive Committee.

Dr. Johnson has held the position of chief of staff since January 2009.  Dr. Timothy O'Brien, currently the vice-chief of staff, will transition to the chief of staff position in July.

In announcing his departure Dr. Johnson said, "I have been very satisfied over the past 10 years with Family Health Care of Ellensburg, KVCH, and my patients.  I felt very accepted in the Kittitas County medical community, and have appreciated the support and camaraderie of the local medical providers."  He also noted that he and his family greatly enjoyed living in Ellensburg.
