Visitor Restrictions

KVH MASKING REQUIREMENTS
Per Washington State law, facial coverings are required in ALL KVH facilities, despite vaccination status.

KVH CLINICS & SPECIALTY SERVICES
COVID-19 safeguards are in effect at all KVH facilities. Masks must be worn at all times.

Patients who are not COVID-19 suspect or positive are allowed one (1) designated support person, age 18 or older, to accompany them to their appointment. Two (2) support persons are allowed on a case-by-case basis for:
– Minor patients (parents or legal guardians only)
– Patients with a cognitive or physical disability
Other exceptions may be made at the discretion of the KVH clinical care team.

KVH HOSPITAL
COVID-19 safeguards are in effect throughout the hospital.

Due to high transmission rates in the community and the need to protect our patients and staff, we are not allowing visitors in the Hospital.

Exceptions will be made for limited-time visits to patients in the following situations:

  • End of life
  • Surgical Patients (visitor will be asked to remain in their car until patient is ready for discharge)
  • Patients under the age of 18 (1 visitor)
  • Patients with limited developmentally (1 visitor)
  • Patients in labor and delivery (1 partner and 1 support person)*
  • Emergency room patients will be allowed 1 visitor under special circumstances as outlined by the KVH caregiver on duty.

Masks and visitor badges must be worn at all times. Anyone arriving at the Hospital is subject to medical screening before entering.

Visitors are not allowed for COVID-positive patients, with an exception for end-of-life and Family Birthing Place.

Other exceptions may be made at the discretion of the KVH clinical care team.

Surgical Services
No visitors

Patient Experience

  • Surgery patient enters alone and check in at the hospital front desk.
  • Support person is called when the patient is ready to be discharged.

Emergency Department

Emergency room patients will only be allowed 1 visitor under special circumstances as outlined by the KVH caregiver on duty.

*Family Birthing Place

KVH Family Birthing Place patients who are in triage (not admitted), and not in isolation, are allowed (1) visitor/support person per day. (Same person for entire visit.)

Patients who are admitted for labor, induction, or C-Section are allowed up to (2) visitors/support persons per day. (Same 2 people for entire stay.)

Visitors must be age 18 or over.

Patient & Visitor Experience

  • Visitor checks in at the hospital front desk to be screened and announced. Their visitor badge indicates the unit they are visiting.
  • Visitor(s) remain in patient’s room for the duration of the visit. If visitor(s) need to leave, they must check in again at the front desk upon re-entering the hospital.

Family Birthing Place (for patients COVID-19 positive, suspected or unknown)

Patient & Visitor Experience

  • When patient is admitted for labor and delivery, one additional visitor/support person is allowed (for a total of 2 visitors/support persons), and may stay up to 4 hours after delivery.
  • Scheduled Cesarean Birth patients who have finished their surgery recovery period may have one additional visitor/support person for any 4 consecutive hours of their choosing.
  • The chosen support person(s) are to remain the same individual(s) throughout the entire length of stay
  • Support person(s) must check in at hospital front desk for screening every time they enter the building.
  • Visitor/support person(s) remain in patient’s room.
