Visitor Restrictions

KVH MASKING REQUIREMENTS

Per Washington State law, facial coverings are required in ALL KVH facilities, despite vaccination status.

KVH HOSPITAL

COVID-19 safeguards are in effect throughout the hospital.

  • Visitors must be 18 or older
  • Masks and visitor badges must be worn at all times. Anyone arriving at the Hospital is subject to medical screening before entering.
  • Visitors are not allowed for COVID-positive patients, with an exception for end-of-life and Family Birthing Place.

Other exceptions may be made at the discretion of the KVH clinical care team.

Hospital Departments

Imaging and Laboratory Services

Patients arriving at the Hospital for Imaging or Lab Services are allowed (1) support person to accompany them.

Surgical Services

Patients arriving at the Hospital for Surgical Services are allowed (1) support person to accompany them.

Patient & Visitor Experience

  • Surgery patient enters and checks in at the hospital front desk.
  • Support person may remain in the waiting area or choose to be called when the patient is ready to be discharged.
  • Support person will receive discharge instructions in the Surgery Department and will exit with the patient.

Emergency Department

(1) visitor per patient, per day

Visitor Experience

  • Visitor checks in at the Emergency Department (ED) reception desk to be screened
  • Visitor should remain in patient’s room for the duration of the visit.  If the visitor must leave the facility they must check in again at the ED registration desk upon re-entry.

Critical Care Unit (CCU) & Medical/Surgical Unit (Med/Surg)

There is a limit of only Two (2) visitors a day per patient

Visitor Experience

  • Visiting hours are from 7A-7P
  • Visitors are required to wear a mask while at KVH
  • The front desk staff or Security will continue to screen, mask and badge all visitors
  • The front desk staff will call the departments and inquire about visitors, prior to sending any visitors down to the department
  • No visitors are allowed for COVID+ patients, except for end of life or special circumstances pre-arranged by myself or house supervisor
  • There can be no more than 2 visitors in the room with a patient at any time for safety precautions from exposure for staff, patient and family (this will be managed by department staff)

Family Birthing Place (FPB)

Up to (2) visitors and/or support persons at a time

Any patient who is COVID-19 positive, suspected or unknown is allowed (1) visitor support/person per day. This must be the same person for the entire stay.

Patient & Visitor Experience

  • Visitor checks in at the Hospital front entrance to be screened.
  • Visitor can purchase food at the Hospital Café to be brought back and consumed in the patient’s room. (COVID-negative patients only)

KVH Urgent Care – Cle Elum

Patients are allowed (1) support person to accompany them

KVH Café

Visitors who purchase food at the Hospital Café must take it “to-go” and eat it in the patient room.

KVH CLINICS & SPECIALTY SERVICES

Patients who are not COVID-19 suspect or positive are allowed one (1) designated support person, age 18 or older, to accompany them to their appointment.

Two (2) support persons are allowed on a case-by-case basis for:

  • Minor patients (parents or legal guardians only)
  • Patients with a cognitive or physical disability

Other exceptions may be made at the discretion of the KVH clinical care team.

  • Reception staff announces the visitor to Med/Surg staff
  • Visitor receives a badge for the area they are visiting
  • Visitor(s) remain in patient’s room for the duration of the visit.  If the visitor must leave the facility they must check in again at the Hospital registration desk upon re-entry.
  • Visitor can purchase food at the Hospital Café to be brought back and consumed in the patient’s room (COVID-negative patients only)

Family Birthing Place (FPB)

KVH Family Birthing Place patients who are in triage (not admitted), and not in isolation, are allowed one (1) visitor/support person per day. (Same person for entire visit.)

Patients who are admitted for labor, induction, or C-Section are allowed up to two (2) visitors/support persons per day. (Same 2 people for entire stay.)

Any patient who is COVID-19 positive, suspected or unknown is allowed one (1) visitor support/person per day. This must be the same person for the entire stay.

  • Visitor checks in at the Hospital front entrance to be screened

  • Visitor receives a badge for the area they are visiting
  • Visitor can purchase food at the Hospital Café to be brought back and consumed in the patient’s room (COVID-negative patients only)
