On February 26, Jon Ward was appointed to fill the vacant position on the Board of Commissioners for Kittitas County Public Hospital District No. 1. The board oversees the operations of the public hospital district that covers Lower Kittitas County, which does business as Kittitas Valley Healthcare.
The KVH Board of Commissioners solicited letters of interest and conducted interviews with candidates following the resignation of Joan Baird Glover on December 31, 2014.
“We had many excellent candidates who expressed interest in serving their community,” said Board President Jack Baker. “We believe that Jon’s background and investment in the community leave him well-suited for the position.”
In 2010, Jon moved to the Kittitas Valley with his wife, Laura, to raise their two young children. He currently runs a small film company where he manages the local community access television channel and produces regional commercials, corporate videos, documentaries, and scripted films. He also teaches a variety of film production classes at Central Washington University.
Prior to moving to the Kittitas Valley, Jon served for five years as a Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. Department of State. He also spent nearly 15 years as a professional screenwriter and filmmaker, and is a member of the Writer’s Guild of America, West (WGAW).
Jon will serve on the KVH Board of Commissioners until the November 2015 general election, at which time the position will be publicly elected. The elected candidate will serve the remainder of the six-year term, which expires in 2019.
