Skiers and snowboarders looking to prepare for the upcoming ski season are invited to attend a free informational session on Wednesday, October 29.
The session will cover proper fitting of equipment and tips on stretching, strengthening, and injury prevention. Featured speakers will include Jim Repsher of KVH Orthopedics, Mauricio Herrador of KVH Physical Therapy, and Tami Walton of Mountain High Sports.
“The advice that these speakers have to offer can help reduce the risk of injury while skiing or snowboarding,” according to Ken Kladnik, Director of KVH Physical Therapy. “Cross-country skiers, downhill skiers, and snowboarders of all levels can benefit from this free session.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend a mix of aerobic and muscle-strengthening activities each week. Skiing and snowboarding are activities that can be incorporated into a regular exercise schedule during the winter season. Downhill skiing and snowboarding are considered moderate intensity aerobic activity. Cross-country skiing is considered a vigorous intensity aerobic activity.
The free informational session will be held at KVH Physical Therapy on Wednesday, October 29 at 6:30 p.m. KVH Physical Therapy is located at 301 E Mountain View Avenue in Ellensburg.
