With a theme of “Get Healthy, Stay Healthy” the 2014 Community Wellness Fair aims to provide Kittitas County residents and visitors with tips on health and information on local health-related businesses.
The fair will be held on Thursday, April 17 at the Rosewood Club House in Ellensburg from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Rosewood Club House is located at 1100 S. Rosewood Drive, just south of Mountain View Avenue near the Ellensburg Foursquare Church and Hearthstone Cottage.
Admission to the fair is free. In addition to booths for local health-related businesses, there will be several ongoing activities and screenings.
Attendees may stop in for free health screenings of their blood pressure and blood sugar. A local podiatrist will provide information on proper foot care and shoe selection. Additionally, CWU Exercise Science students will provide information on proper walking mechanics and walking exercise programs.
The CWU Food and Nutrition Club and KVH staff will conduct food demonstrations of healthy recipes throughout the event. Samples of the demonstration recipes will be provided.
Kittitas County Public Health Department will be on hand to provide free shingles vaccine for adults age 60 and older.
Throughout the event, attendees may enter to win free raffle giveaways. The grand prize will be a $50 grocery gift certificate.
