Double Chocolate Banana Almond Bread

Looking for a healthier alternative to chocolate cake or your favorite sweet banana bread? We have combined the best of both worlds in this delicious, dessert-worthy loaf. This is a great option for those looking for a low-carb option or gluten-free. Serve it up with a cold glass of almond milk or a hot cup of coffee! Enjoy.

 

 Servings: about 6  - Prep Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed

  • 3 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • ¼ c. almond butter (or peanut butter)

  • 2 c. almond flour

  • ¼ unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 3 tsp. baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 3 tbs sweetener of choice ( we used coconut sugar )

  • ½ c. dark chocolate chunks

  • ½ c. almonds, crushed

  • 1 banana, sliced for topping (optional)

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. In a large mixing bowl, mash your banana until well combined. Crack your eggs and whisk the banana, eggs, vanilla, almond butter and your sweetener of choice together. In a separate bowl, mix together your dry ingredients and then slowly add to your banana mixture until well combined. To finish your batter, gently fold in your crushed almonds and chocolate chunks. In a well-oiled bread pan, pour your batter evenly. Before baking, top your bread batter with banana slices and a drizzle of almond butter for added flavor! (optional). Place in the oven and bake 30-40 minutes or until the bread is firm in the middle. Let cool and enjoy!
