With a theme of "Get Healthy, Stay Healthy" the 2012 Community Wellness Fair aims to provide Kittitas County residents and visitors with tips on health and information on local health-related businesses.
The fair will be held on Saturday, October 13, which was officially named "Community Wellness Day" by the Ellensburg City Council. The event will be held at Hal Holmes Center, 209 N Ruby St, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is the same time as the Kittitas County Farmer's Market in Ellensburg.
Admission to the fair is free and families are welcome. The fair will feature booths of local health-related businesses. Each booth at the 2012 Community Wellness Fair will have an educational component to promote wellness. Examples of educational materials that will be featured include healthy take-home recipes for fall foods and handouts listing at-home exercises that promote strength, balance, and overall fitness.
In addition to health-related booths there will be food demonstrations featuring local produce from the Kittitas County Farmer's Market in Ellensburg. There will also be exercise demonstrations and free health screenings for body fat measurements, blood pressure and blood sugar.
Throughout the fair, attendees may enter to win free raffle giveaways. Raffles will be held each hour throughout the fair, though you do not need to be present to win.
Sponsors for the 2012 Community Wellness Fair include Kittitas Valley Community Hospital, Hearthstone Cottage, Byram Healthcare, Ellensburg Public Library, Daily Record, and KXLE.
